Astrid Berges-Frisbey: el encanto mortal de la sirena en ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’

Con un rostro tan inocente y con una expresión de que no rompe ni un plato, es difícil imaginar a la actriz franco-española Astrid Berges-Frisbey como una sirena asesina (sí, asesina).

En “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” Berges-Frisbey, de origen catalán, interpreta a Syrena, la principal de un grupo de sirenas que son la versión más cercana que se ha visto en cine a este personaje de la mitología griega: mujeres hermosas con cola de pez que hechizan a los hombres con su belleza y su canto, hasta llevarlos a la perdición (o a la muerte).

“Para la gente que conoce las grandes leyendas, las historias antiguas de las sirenas, (el personaje) corresponde bastante a esa idea, pero para la que se piensa que las sirenas son sólo Ariel –personaje de la película de dibujos animados ‘Little Mermaid’ (o incluso “Splash!”), no pueden llegar a pensar lo malas que son en la película. ¡Son tan malas!”, dijo a HOY entre risas.

Ser parte de una mega producción como es la cuarta entrega de la saga “Pirates of the Caribbean”, le parece a la actriz algo increíble. “Impactante es poco, la verdad es que yo nunca ni soñé ni pensé en trabajar en EEUU o en inglés y además en una película de la que era yo era fan cuando se estrenó la primera. Creo que es como un sueño y sigo sin creerlo, hasta hoy en día ¡no lo creo de verdad!”, agregó.

Su participación en el filme fue como cualquier otro proyecto, ya que tuvo que hacer casting. Cuando su representante la llamó y le dijo –como si fuera cualquier cosa- que tenía audición para “Pirates”, se quedó perpleja.

“Pensé ‘¿Qué estás diciendo?, ¿Estás loca?’ (risas) porque yo hablaba inglés y era algo tan increíble, impresionante y presionante. Al llegar al set estaba nerviosa, no era que me sintiera incapaz, pero no pensaba que fuera real, jamás pensé que me pudieran dar ese papel. No quería parecer ridícula por el tema del inglés, quería sentirme mínimo tan profesional como en francés y español”, detalló.

El hecho de compartir la experiencia tan increíble de ser parte de esta gran producción con compañero de reparto Sam Clafin, que interpreta a Philip Swift, le ayudó a sentirse mejor.

“Sam y yo éramos los actores jóvenes y ambos nos sentíamos muy agradecidos y con mucha presión, pensando cómo lo podemos hacer y tratando de tratar de dar lo mejor de nosotros. La verdad es que compartir este mismo tipo de experiencia con alguien, fue bastante genial”, dijo.

Incluso la noche del estreno del filme en el parque de Disney, en Anaheim, California, recordó que ella y Sam se tomaron de las manos, nerviosos porque no podían creer que esa experiencia les estuviera sucediendo. “Estábamos petrificados”.

Una familia de ‘piratas’

A sus 24 años, Berges-Frisbey tiene ya una trayectoria en televisión y cine en Francia y España pero nada como esta producción donde hasta el set parecía intimidante al principio.

“Antes de llegar me preguntaba qué voy a encontrar, porque había oído que esos sets eran gigantes y que que no acabas de conocer a la gente, y a pesar de que fue impresionante – recuerdo que había 800 personas trabajando la misma noche- ‘Piratas’ es una especie de familia, había una gran parte del equipo que hizo las primeras películas y ya te conocen. Johnny Depp es una gran persona que te da la bienvenida y que te integra al equipo muy rápido; creo que el hecho de empezar el rodaje en Hawái nos ayudó a todos a conocernos, estábamos lejos de nuestros hogares, de nuestra familia, de nuestras casas y vivíamos todos muy cerca; se creó una familia y con un sentimiento de familia, fue un gran placer y un honor de ser parte de esa familia”.

No se deja ‘encantar’ por Hollywood

Astrid no piensa dejarse encantar del todo por el canto de sirenas de Hollywood. “Me gusta variar los placeres a la hora de trabajar, así que estoy abierta a todo tipo de proyectos. La prueba es que después de ‘Pirates’ ruedo una película española pequeña, no estoy interesada sólo en Hollywood, quiero multiplicar los proyectos y no quiero abandonar los proyectos franceses o españoles”.
